Welcome to the era of the Ramayana, reimagined. Every child knows the name of history's greatest villain: Ravana. But if you dare to look beyond the ancient boundaries, a darker, more complex truth awaits. When King Ravana's uncontrollable lust drove him to violate Rambha, the echoes of his crime shattered his own empire. Disgusted by the act, his brother Vibhishana defected. His legendary son, Indrajit, heartbroken by his father's true nature, abandoned Lanka. Stripped of his identity, he fled across the seas-only for a violent storm to sink his ship and wash him ashore in Atlit Yam.( Located in present-day Israel, this ancient seaside village would later meet the same tragic fate as our own Dwarka, submerging forever beneath the waves.) Rescued by a poor carpenter's sister named Talia, Indrajit sought redemption in secrecy. He built her a fortune, commissioned jewelry fit for queens, and fell deeply in love. But on the very eve of his grand confession, her dreams were brutally reduced to a heap of ashes. Meanwhile, back in India, a deadly game of vengeance was unfolding. Shurpanakha, harboring a lifelong hatred for her brother Ravana, orchestrated a brilliant deception. Faking a suicide attempt after her son's tragic death, she manipulated Rama and Sita into taking her in. But when her nose was severed, the stakes changed instantly. Ravana quickly realized the truth: this wasn't a mere family feud. It was a divine trap laid by the gods, using his sister as a pawn to provoke him into war. Sitting idle meant cowardice; striking blindly meant ruin. Left with no choice, Ravana unleashed his legendary ten intellects to make a move so brilliant, it left even the heavens stunned.

A poetic retelling of the Ramayana, told through love, sacrifice, devotion, and duty. From Rama's miraculous birth in Ayodhya to his deep bond with his brothers, from Sita's emergence from the sacred earth to their fateful exile, this story follows the timeless journey of two souls whose names have echoed through the ages. Witness Bharata's unmatched devotion, Lakshmana's unwavering loyalty, Hanuman's boundless faith, and Sita's unbreakable strength. Follow the path through forests, across oceans, into battlefields, and beyond triumph itself, where the greatest tests of the heart still await. Inspired by the ancient epic and its enduring traditions, this narrative poem seeks to bring the Ramayana to life through verse while exploring the love, courage, grief, and dharma that made its characters immortal. For this is not merely the story of Rama. It is also the great story of Sita. सीतायाः चरितं महत्

Rama went through a lot more than just what is known to most people. He smiled through adversity, but did that mean he was happy? What did he feel, as a child, when he achieved all his feats? When people hailed him? What did he feel like when he himself needed to exile his wife? When he needed to ask her to prove her purity? When he saw Lakshmana walk to him despite his order to him to protect Sita? When he finally killed Ravana? When he met his sons? This is an attempt to comprehend just that. (It's an attempt, also, to humanise Sri Rama and see him as more than just a king. It's to see his emotions behind the confident aura of an emperor. Please do not read further if humanising Sri Rama is something you're against. Thanks :)

Sita is the consort of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Sri Maha Vishnu, in Hindu mythology. Sita is one of the main characters in the Ramayana, a major Hindu epic. Born in Sitamarhi, Sita was taken to Janakpur soon after her birth by her father, Maharaja Janak. Sita is considered to be one of the Sreshta Naris and is respected as the epitome of all womanly virtues for Hindu women. Sita is also considered an avatar of Lakshmi, and the consort of Sri Vishnu during the Treta Yuga. Sita is indeed the ideal example of a woman and possesses all the good qualities that a traditional Indian woman is expected to possess. She was the ideal daughter to her parents, ideal wife to her husband, Rama, and the ideal mother to her twins, Luv and Kush. Sita had to undergo a lot of trials and tribulations in her marital life and it was her courage, chastity and adherence to Dharma that finally made her emerge the ultimate winner.

Ramayana. An Indian epic that has lived through the centuries and has only grown even more in the process. An epic that shows ideal characters, many of whom we worship, and other characters from whom we learn what we shouldn't be at any cost. But one thing that has been a constant for many centuries now is the examples we give, referring to the epic. One of the most popular ones being "Be a brother like Rama." Not only is the Ramayana an enchanting tale of love and devotion, but it's also an equally magical example of brotherhood and affection. Brothers who stood with each other through thick and thin. Brothers who would readily sacrifice their life for the other. Brothers who would love the other, and support him when nobody else did. This book brings to you the Ramayana, but this time, the limelight is on the inseparable brothers. *** Disclaimer: Please do not read this book if you do not like humanization of deities. However, I can assure you that ALL relationships in this book are shown the way they're meant to be - no non-canon shipping. I can also assure you, that since I myself am a devotee of Shri Rama, that you will never have me intentionally writing anything against him, his real nature - the same goes for the others - Sita, Lakshmana, Urmila, Bharata, Mandavi, Shatrughna, Shrutakeerti, Dasharatha, the mothers... All of them will always get their due respect in this book. Secondly, I've followed the Valmiki Ramayana throughout. Some incidents may be revelations, as quite a few things are contrary to popular perception and other versions. Thank you! Fantastic cover designed by @Mochis4lifeq52627 <3
