This is not a retelling. It's what happens when the ritual breaks.

Diminishing Decay is the second story of the series, however, the first was a prequel so this can be read as a stand-alone story! This is a collaborative story about the hardships of MCR as they progress together as a band. The story is Frerard-oriented, going through the rise and fall of both Frerard and the band itself. But here's the thing, there's no such thing as female Slayers, and her last name suggests that she a descendant of one of the most infamous and ruthless Slayer families in American history, a family that was killed off decades ago. Nyxia doesn't know that she's a Slayer, and she has no knowledge that she's a walking impossibility. Despite what all other Vampires would've done, which is kill her on sight, Gerard goes against unspoken and ancient laws and takes her under his wing, vowing to protect her from the Ordinem, making a promise that most wouldn't dare to make. After all, she's the only one who can help him get what he's desired since that horrible night. Gerard has no idea that Nyxia will change his and his friends' lives in ways no one could have fathomed. And Nyxia has no idea what she is meant to be in this new and dangerous world that she's been dragged into. But as the two begin to fall for each other, which should be impossible, they dig themselves deeper into a grave that may be impossible to escape. Two walking impossibilities, a forbidden love. it's the middle of the 2004 tour and the burnout is starting to set in. gerard is losing himself in the red and black suits and the character he plays on stage, and frank is the only one who really notices how far he's slipping. the silence between them is getting heavier every day, even as they find something worth saving in each other. it's a story about the messy parts of being in love when you're both falling apart, and how the person who spends all their time keeping you alive might be the one you end up losing.

Frank Iero is the new kid at Pencey Prep. Gerard Way is the king (or so he likes to think) of Pencey Prep. Gerard is new to the school.. he finally got kicked out of his old one, now being forced to go to school with Mikey, not that's it's a bad thing. unlike what people would thing, Gerard and Mikey get along great..it's just other people that bugs Gerard. he sticks out like a sore thumb, hes soft spoken and has pretty feminine features as well as dressing up in pastel clothes (skirts). he gets into fights a lot and he's not afraid to stick up for himself but it gets tiring so he normally lets his bully's do whatever they need. at his new school he meets Frank. he's known to not let people push him the wrong way and he'll call you out on your bullshit. Frank finds Gerard...uh, interesting. it's hard to tell what Gerard is thinking most times and that really bugs Frank. Gerard tends to be in his own and Frank wants to change that...but how can he? Gerard will forever be known as the "cross dresser" and Frank will always be seen as "too good" for Gerard.
