Argath Alcott made a deal with the devil. In exchange for overwhelming strength, agelessness, motivation and drive, he is slowly being consumed by a fifty year curse that leads to his eventual nonexistence. As his story is about to come to its ultimate conclusion, he charters one last carriage to a sleepy village at the base of a volcano where he intends to settle one last thread of unfinished business. A man reminisces about meeting a woman at a social gathering years ago and is struck by her beauty. Suddenly his wife arrives home........

There are very powerful people in this world with very big secrets. Secrets that they would do anything to keep unknown. But, they can't always keep these secrets on a tight leash. Then, there are the people who can keep such secrets and make sure they are kept by other people as well. Should a secret ever be made public, blood would be spilled. These people are called the "Amicus": An organization of highly trained assassins and vassals. Number 582 is an Amicus. She does her job keeping secrets and making sure they are kept as she has been doing ever since she was six. She has no recollection of anything that happened before that nor does she wonder about it. Her life revolved around her job and that's all there was to it. Then that all changes and suddenly 582 is forced to call into question everything she knew about this world and the heinous secrets inside, including her identity and purpose. If there was one thing that wasn't debatable however, it would be the fact that she was no longer considered reliable in keeping the secrets she has been keeping for years, making her a target for other Amicus, and that the Amicus will take any measures to make sure all loose ends are tied by the end of the day.
