There once was a small boy named Billy Holmes. He enjoyed playing pirates with dog, Redbeard, and was fairly carefree, although definitely not as carefree as his only friend, Mickey. But one day, tragedy strikes and Billy all but disappears. Into his place steps Sherlock, cold and bitter. Title cred to @sydroxz Disclaimer: I don't own Sherlock, unfortunately.

Based on a tumblr post I saw... I seem to like writing sad things. Hmm. Basically a Redbeard bit and how Sherlock learns that "Caring is not an advantage."

John stood motionless like a deer caught in the headlights, meeting Mycroft's eager, pleading eyes with a confused, blank stare. The army Doctor never saw his friend like this. But Mycroft had.
