Being only fourteen and an orphan, he began viewing the two as surrogate father figures, as Arthur grows up along side the pair, he comes to share Dutch's vision of a life lived free from the constraints of civilization and the rule of law, becoming one of the first members of the soon to be famous outlaws known as the Van der Linde gang. Over the twenty nine years running with the group, Arthur has seen every member join and leave.
