Refelction Stories

In my folklore Eibhilín, I used two main legends in the Celtic tradition of fairies and Ciardha, meaning darkness. I used these two specific legends because of my interest in their fairy legends and my connection to the spiritual meaning of light versus dark. The fairy aspect of the story was an important detail to add to make it seem like the folklore tales they had long ago. They used fairies and other mythical creatures to explain stories of their culture, religion, politics and more.

A coming of age story about finding your better self. Do we look back and wish to be the person we used to be when we were still innocent and fresh? Or Do we look forward to the uncertainty of living?

This is not an entry but really a reflection and thanks to Syfy on my experience to this contest. I just want to thank them for giving me this opportunity and I just wanted to talk about what it has done for me. From learning to tut, rewatching season 1, reading the books, tons of actors and producer perspective, and even jumping in ponds to go to Fillory this contest has been fun. A self explanatory poem about being alive in this current climate of fear, with the whole world locked inside, we all unlock our minds, the overthinkers going into overdrive, is this battle worth fighting for?

Light Up The Skies is a poem written focused on the theme of 'Emerging From The Storm'. It was first written and published by Arkbound and Change Bristol, for mental health awareness day in 2020. It was the winning entry of the UK wide competition.
