Daiki est un adolescent de seize ans passionné par Pokémon. Dans son monde, il connaît cet univers depuis des années et rêve secrètement de pouvoir un jour le découvrir pour de vrai, de parcourir ses régions, de rencontrer des Pokémon et de devenir lui-même un Dresseur. Mais derrière cette passion se cache une réalité beaucoup moins joyeuse : Daiki est profondément solitaire et n'a jamais vraiment trouvé sa place auprès des autres. Pour lui, le monde Pokémon représente alors une échappatoire, un endroit où il pourrait enfin vivre une véritable aventure et ne plus être seul. Un jour pourtant, un accident bouleverse brutalement son existence. Lorsqu'il reprend connaissance, Daiki découvre avec stupeur qu'il ne se trouve plus dans son monde, mais dans une région qu'il ne connaît que trop bien : **Kalos**. La Tour Prismatique d'Illumis, les Pokémon, les paysages et même certains lieux qu'il pensait ne pouvoir observer qu'à travers un écran sont désormais réels. Son rêve vient de se réaliser... mais pas exactement comme il l'avait imaginé. Car Daiki va rapidement comprendre qu'il ne suffit pas de connaître Pokémon pour savoir comment vivre dans ce monde. Entre sa nouvelle identité, la découverte des Pokémon sauvages, les rencontres inattendues et les mystères entourant son arrivée à Kalos, Daiki devra apprendre à devenir un véritable Dresseur. Et peut-être découvrira-t-il au cours de ce voyage que ce qu'il cherchait depuis toujours n'était pas seulement un moyen d'échapper à sa solitude... mais quelque chose de bien plus important.
