It's a rare and almost unsettling feeling to encounter someone whose kindness and purity resonate so deeply with your own heart. Jake and I have been together for three months now, but our history stretches back further-we met two years ago at work. He went from being my closest confidant to the person I hold dearest, someone whose happiness I genuinely wish the universe would nurture. Jake has been my constant, unwavering through every high and low, no matter the state I found myself in. With him, my darkest fears have been reshaped into moments of growth and understanding. Yet, there are times when fear lingers. I worry about what might happen if we don't end up together. I worry that one day, I might find myself alone, questioning my worth on a bathroom floor, feeling like a fool. Because of my past relationships, I decided to write this book to help heal the wounds left behind by those who couldn't love me fully. I carry the scars from their inability to care for me in the ways I needed, from their capacity to diminish rather than uplift me. I write for the younger self who once believed she might never grow up, who suffered quietly and accepted less than she deserved. Furthermore, I am so sorry for that girl within me, the one who settled when she should have soared This book is also for every woman who feels trapped, who has come to believe she is somehow undeserving of something greater, something kinder. Here, I share the reasons we parted ways, hoping that each story, each moment of vulnerability, might help you find the courage to recognize your worth.
