He's currently at a military hospital in the heart of london, he was rushed there after they found serious swelling in his brain. He wakes up with no idea of where he is or who he was. However back in afghanistan his fellow soldiers regard him as somewhat of a hero as he saved their lives in more than one way. After being discharged from the hospital with Retrograde Amnesia, Ben Novak returns home where he is greeted by his family who do everything but hide Ben's past from him. He doesn't want to believe his parents though, he wants to believe the lie he'd told himself about a plane crash and a head injury. Soon, he runs into a former co-worker, Claire Morison, and the memories slowly return.
