When a soul born into labor discovers the things beyond their concrete cage, they must break through their own craft to find something they left behind. I purposely left the main characters' attributes and name out so the reader will imagine themselves in the story.

➳ Woosan___ "Our special place still exists, but without you, it's just another empty shore." In a small seaside village, Wooyoung and San have shared everything since childhood, their dreams, their secrets, and an unspoken bond they never dared to name. Their refuge is an old, hidden cove by the ocean, a place only they know, where they escape the world and make promises for a future filled with hope. But as they grow older, the lines between friendship and something deeper blur, and neither can find the courage to reveal their true feelings. When San is diagnosed with a rare and terminal illness, Wooyoung is left to grapple with the looming loss of the one person who has always been by his side. Faced with heartbreak, he must find a way to cherish the time they have left before the waves carry their dreams away forever.

This poem is about remembrance, loss, and missing the chance to save another's life. I had to write this piece for my Anthropology of Gender course and publish it on a public forum. I wanted to write about how those surrounding us may seem happy, but they might be showing signs of giving up. That if caught in the right moment, a life would never be lost. The majority of society can relate to death, but not everyone can say that they have saved lives. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope you can relate to it, either positively or negatively. *visual by: David Werbrouck/Unsplash

Remember when you said that if I'm there by your side nothing else would matter, you'd hold my hand when I'm around and you'd have my shoulder to rest when you're feeling low. Remember when you said you're always gonna be right by my side when i needed you, no matter what would happen. Remember when you said you loved me and i said that I love you too and the way you came close and kissed me. Remember when you were sad and didn't want to talk to anyone but me and i was there for you. Remember all the dumb things we did just to see each other, even if it was glance of each other's face, we made it happen. I hope you remember all that we were giving up and everything that we were holding on to, you and me, were inseparable. Remember? Or was it just me? Holding on to something that was never yours and what hurts more is losing something that you thought was yours but never really was. Yes, I didn't have high hopes or expectations but I didn't expect that you'd do it to me,what you were so afraid of, you'd just come to me with it and leave me in the middle of nowhere, you knew everything's that happened but you did it anyway. You were the illumination in my life, you said everything and when the time came look at what happened. I was wrong again and remember when i told that we'd never fall apart, maybe its all my fault, of doing, saying, not expecting but i fell for it anyway and I'm right there, again.
