A proper story starts at the beginning. But this isn't a proper story, this is *my* story. And the beginning was a load of -------- anyway. The short of it is people fought, the world almost ended (or did end?), and a noble person died to maybe set it right. That story has a lot of boring bits, garish angry men shouting at each other and generally missing the point, and it has some interesting bits, namely this bomb-ass teenager dying to stave off the end of the world. My contribution, well after *that* story, is much more interesting (and much sexier) than all of that. I suppose you should know the rough setting: a world in ruins, barely functional, ravaged by mutant atrocity, everyone picking up the broken bits in their own broken way. The world had hinged to crisis and somehow survived; the mood was cautiously optimistic and grimly fatalist. There was a last X-man and a last Brother (actually, a sister; preach!), who had both somehow survived the almost-end of everything. My story starts (well, gets interesting) looking for that last X-man. He had something that I wanted...
