Kyōjurō's eyes met those of a saddened face, a demons face, not just any demon, upper moon three, quite a cheerful and talkative demon actually-yet in Kyōjurō's final moments he seemed so sad. Kyōjurō however cannot feel remorse for this demon and continues to fight till his final breaths never to know where that innkeeper disappeared to or know why that demon looked so sad when Kyōjurōs life was cut short, why had he begged for Kyōjurō to live? Disclaimer: I do not own any of the demon slayer characters.

Kyojuro Rengoku. The Flame Hashira. A Bachelor looking for someone to maybe call his own. Akaza. The Upper Moon Three. A lonely demon looking for someone to fight, finds the match of a lifetime. What will become of these two? All the characters belong to the creator of Demon Slayer. (Altho I might put in some of my own as well.)

These demons provide refuge for children who have been left abandoned and offer them food, shelter, and love. Despite their monstrous appearance, they shower compassion on the kids and tend to their needs. Perhaps if people knew the true nature of these demons, they would have been spared from the hunters' swords. The demon slayer Corps has greatly established their goals and beliefs. That they must slay all demon's heads. That's what Akaza has to deal with when doing his job. scum humans trying to harm his kind. Yeah I know the romance is slow and that there is too much world building 😅 Also I hate the name "akaren" it's so bad

In this au, Rengoku survived Mugen Train. He doesn't hate Akaza, instead he finds admiration for his assailant. This may have angst & fluff.

Kokushibo. That was the name with which everyone knew him. No one asked ever for his last name, neither his real name. Getting involved into someone's life or past was a distraction, an act of disrespect and completely inappropriate for their workspace, at least that's what he thought. Douma always tryied to befriend with everyone there. He loved having long conversations and sharing with everyone he knew every detail of his life. This annoyed many people. But it didn't annoy Kokushibo. For some reason, he enjoyed every momment that Douma was talking to him. He hated to, but he couldn't help listening for hours how Douma could talk about his life, his feelings, his thoughts. Kokushibo usually avoided any type of social interaction unless it was work stuff, and in the eyes of other members of the mafia, it was weird that he preferred listening a two-hours monologue of anything Douma had to say than a one-minute small talk. Kokushibo didn't understand himself either. He always wondered why he liked to listen so bad. He rarely talked, so when he was with Douma, he talked for both of them. The fact that he didn't feel annoyed stressed him. Why did he had such a preference on Douma? Why couldn't him talk a little bit more? Why didn't he understand his own feelings? This preference had becomed annoying and weird for other workers, they didn't actually know what to do; Should them just let Kokushibo be? "Alright... just a sip..." Akaza trailed off, gaze fixed on the blue liquid once more. His eyes rolled heavenward before he raised the vial - and accidentally gulped the entire contents... "Uh-oh..." His voice turned dry: "Not as sweet as it smells..." Akaza's head spun violently as he stumbled, gagging - one hand clamped over his mouth, the other flailing wildly for support... "Damnit...!" His legs crumpled beneath him; he crashed onto hands and knees, coughing violently. Vision blurring, dark spots danced before his eyes as consciousness began to slip away... Akaza's gaze wildly swept his surroundings, fleeting thoughts of regret whispering past his lips: "I shouldn't have... Drank it..." His body betrayed his fading consciousness, collapsing limply onto the soft grass. Eyes fluttered closed, and he slipped into unconsciousness... The wind responded as if sensing his vulnerability, gentle breezes quickening into soft gusts around him... His chest rose and fell with slow, even breaths - the only sign of life - while fingers twitched almost imperceptibly, as if grasping for awareness lost... Moonlight casts an eerie glow over Akaza's pale, motionless form, casting an unsettling silence over the forest...
