Another year passing by...

My new year's resolution in the form of a poem.

"This was it. No-one could deny that I, Helen Wersel, was about to achieve the feat of completing my New Year's Resolution on the very first day of the New Year. I looked at my crush, who was standing at the edge of the Coscep Public Swim Centre lap pool, wearing nothing but board shorts and a tan you could spread on a waffle and eat with maple syrup. Talking to your crush for the first time was hard, it seemed. So, maybe you could deny it. But only a little. Well, maybe a lot." 2021 is so close! I know that most of you are probably counting the minutes until this trash can fire of a year is over. This is my first time doing this so please don't hate me if I suck, and I'm from Morocco so obviously english isn't my mother tongue... But I started writing for a while and I said to myself why not share it with people? So, I hope you enjoy reading this ..

Daniel McCartney is in his senior year of high school. All throughout high school he's been known as the rebel. He is constantly breaking the rules. Daniel gets a warning that if he does anything else he could get expelled and have no chance of getting into a good college. Honestly, he doesn't care about that. All Daniel cares about is getting Mariah Fern to feel the same way about him, as he does about her. Mariah won't date him unless he magically becomes a better person. So, he decides to make his new year resolution to create a fresh start for himself so she'll like him back. Changing your entire personality isn't as easy as it seems, though. Will Daniel be able to keep the resolution? It's the end of the first semester in Mariah's senior year. Daniel, the school rebel, has a huge crush on her and isn't trying to hide it. Mariah refuses to date him unless he changes the way he acts because she's had a hard past with someone like him. Daniel has told her that he'll make it his new year's resolution to create a fresh start for himself, but he can't seem to stick to it. Will she finally realize that not everyone that breaks rules, breaks hearts?

Abuse, Domestic violence, fear, hope and inner-strength

I am not what people call attractive. Not just physically, but I have been described as someone who lacks humour, kindness, empathy and even the ability to smile. All of which traits I'm told are needed to promote attraction in the opposite sex. So this year, I have vowed to work on my 'personality', in the hope of finally finding a man and dusting off my virginal prioress. However, this journey is not going to be all smooth sailing. What will happen when an unattractive midwife in the midst of personal remodelling meets Dr. James? Is it possible to transform yourself while falling in love? How do you show who you are, when this year is about changing that exact thing?
