Thana is an 20 year old Journalist, trying to make a name for herself. So when she stumbles onto the scene of a man about to get executed in a desolate run-down park, she can't believe her luck. This is exactly the kind of story she needs to kick start her career. That is, until her clumsy ass gets caught and the leader, she presumes, tells her to shoot the man or she gets shot. So what does any capable human being do in a situation like this? She fucking shoots. ----- Sullivan is the head of the Italian mafia. Not by blood, and not by choice. He was adopted at the age of three, and raised by Perio and Abelia. It turns out his adoptive daddy was the mob boss - the "Godfather". And so, obviously, when Perio died - he was placed in charge. Him and his men take a suspected rat out into a desolate park, to torture him and find out whether he really is a rat - and if so, who he's working for. Unfortunately, in the middle of threatening the blubbering man; he hears a twig snap. There, on the far side of the park, is the most beautiful girl he's ever seen, and probably most stupid. She tries to make a run for it, but his men are faster and catch her, bringing her to him. Just to scare her a little bit, he gives one of his guns to her and tells her to shoot the man or she gets shot. What he didn't bargain for, was for her to actually shoot the man in the fucking head! At most, he wanted her to injure the man, thinking she's probably going to shoot him in the leg or the arm - something minor. That was not the case. The little curious dark haired devil goes and kills the man with a headshot. Great, now he'll never find out who the man was working for, and she's just become his responsibility. Just. Fucking. Peachy. --- A/N: There will be swearing, lots of it as you can see, so if you don't like that, then please don't read this. Also, there will be mature scenes. :) Let me know what you think! - volatilemadness

In the heart of a bustling Manila, where the endless flow of people is matched only by the weight of responsibilities and expectations, Kailani Inaiah Fabroa is a young woman who wears her struggles like a badge. Kin is a determined Accountancy student with a sharp mind, but a heart that's been hardened by life's harshest lessons. She's the kind of girl who builds walls around her heart, choosing to stay detached, believing it's safer that way. Yet in the midst of it all, there's one person who constantly breaks through, Ibrahim Archer Llorente. It started with a chance encounter on a bus-two strangers crossing paths in a city too big for coincidences. Ibrahim, with his golden retriever personality-warm, persistent, and charming-would soon become a recurring presence in Kin's life. That first meeting led to a string of unexpected run-ins, from band practices to jeepney and bus rides home, a reminder of the line between familliary and the chaos. She tried to keep her distance, especially when she found herself laughing at his jokes. Pero kahit anong effort niya, Ibrahim had a way of pulling her closer. His teasing became a game they both secretly liked, one that blurred the line between annoyance and something Kin didn't want to name. But Ibrahim-still haunted by a love that never truly ended, refused to let anyone in. Even when he saw something building between them, he held back. He told himself they were just friends. Nothing more. Still, fate had its way. Their quiet moments, their accidental rides home, became harder to ignore. For her, falling was never the plan. But sometimes, in the middle of the city's chaos, love will always find a way to knock on the walls you've spent your whole life building, and it doesn't always wait for permission to come in.

Once upon a time, men and women entered marriage with very clear policies regarding the division of labour: he would go to work and "bring home the bacon," while she would stay at home and cook, clean, and raise the children. Things aren't the same as they used to be. Modern Indian romance, intimacies, and marriages are far more complicated than assessments and reality television shows portray. In India, arranged marriages are an unique and complex process. People seek a 'soulmate' with whom they can spend the rest of their lives, but they also have specific expectations of the potential bride or groom. There is a strong narrative about finding love, compatibility, and connection, but what stands out is a real intent to replicate class identities beneath all of this. In a country that depends on a spending population, "middle class" is a necessary armour, a shared language, a value system, and, more importantly, a way of life. Life may be unjust, irritating, and disarmingly disappointing on most days. Being middle class, on the other hand, creates character in a culture obsessed with the need to be a part of the rat race. Marriage also places the onus of making sacrifices, concessions, and making the marriage work on the couple. This tale illuminates the unseen and underappreciated aspects of an Indian arranged marriage, the life of a middle-class wife and husband and their shared responsibilities as they navigate through life. Immense amount of desi tadka awaiting your way. *I don't own the illustration on the poster.*
