the thing about waiting for the rain to stop is that you don't know that it will. you could wait and wait and it could just rain and rain. sometimes, if you wait long enough, the rain will stop and the sun will shine. but sometimes the drizzle turns to a thunderstorm, one you can't hide from. you'll just have to face the lightning.

A skull unearthed from damp soil awakens a cursed ground that hungers for the living, dragging all who disturb it into the depths of its endless darkness.

A wetland excavation uncovers a grotesque, tangled mass of impossible bones, awakening something ancient beneath the mud. As the ground begins to pulse and a towering composite creature briefly rises from the pit, the workers flee-leaving behind a seemingly calm marsh that still, unmistakably, breathes.
