This is a short story by Isaac Reid which details the inner monologue of an individual who watches others lives pass as they sit in the park.

He has always been a sly one, that boy, everybody likes him. He has the looks of a grown man but the heart of a child. He's a beautiful mess. It's a riddle how I remember the little things about him so vividly. How amazingly, even though it's been years I still find myself smiling by the fact that I have paid so much attention to this guy. There's nothing special between us but he has this special space in my heart. I could easily forgive myself by admitting that once in my 24 years of existence I felt the poignancy of one sided love.
