A student at the Egyptian University sees an unspeakable horror of torture of a friend, another student, young and hopeful about his country. Looking in through a basement window, he sets up a video camera and uploads it live to his blog. In New York, an intern at a news / multimedia center for one of the big TV networks, happens upon a live broadcast of the beginnings of Arab Spring in Alexandria. He runs for his boss, this needs to go live. Joyce, his boss, tells him to hold up, they need executive authorization to break into a live broadcast. They watched in horror as the student with a scarred and bleeding body, chest exposed, head hanging limp, still alive as he resists their efforts. The word comes from corporate, NO, it does not go live, "it can't be trusted." they say. By the time other stations go live they are behind and one intern who should have earned recognition went unknown. Joyce won a Pulitzer for her story and the intern, well . . . . interns don't rate. Except in Egypt he initiated another response altogether.
