Hinaako
All three brides bent down and touched their respective husbands' feet.
But the moment they straightened up-
Shubham, Ayush, and Anshuman immediately bent down without wasting even a second and touched their wives' feet.
"What are you doing?"
"A husband doesn't touch his wife's feet!"
Shubham and Anshuman's bua said, clearly shocked.
The three men stood up.
"Why, Bua ji? Why can't we touch their feet?"
Shubham asked, looking at his bua with genuine curiosity.
"Because a husband is considered higher in status, Shubham."
"And women are considered the Lakshmi of the house, right? Bua ji?"
Anshuman asked, looking at the elders.
"Yes, but-"
"But if you consider them goddesses, then give them the status of goddesses too."
Anshuman cut her off.
"But Anshuman-"
"Bua, our ideals have always placed women above themselves. If they could consider their wives worthy of that respect, then who are we to place women below us?"
He spoke calmly.
There was no arrogance in his voice.
He wasn't trying to prove himself superior.
He was simply stating what he believed.
"And in a husband-wife relationship, both are equals. If she can touch our feet, then why can't we touch hers?"
Shubham said it so normally, as if he were stating a simple fact.
And IT IS a fact.
