Rumi couldn't let them see. Don't let your faults or fears ever be seen. Ever. The scars were faults. She couldn't let them know. They'd be horrified. They'd be scared. She knew they'd been hurt, she couldn't let them be scared of her, ever.
Mira knew she wasn't perfect, but their group was. All she had to do to stay happy was keep it together. Bite her tongue, don't get into a fight, don't drive them away. Think before you speak. Put them before herself. She'd be the perfect friend, then they wouldn't leave her. She could have a family.
Zoey loved their group. She knew it had problems, but that didn't change the fact that she loved it. And she could fix it. As long as she didn't nag, was as helpful as possible, and settled any arguments to make herself indispensable, she could fix it. She could be useful.
Zoey was neglected, Mira was abused, and Rumi was ignored. This is a story of trauma, angst, found family, acceptance, and finding yourself. Read at your own risk.
