For a while, we just sway with the water, our backs afloat with our faces dry in the sun. The moment is so serene that I could forget about the water for a few seconds. All that is here is Rin, with his purple hair flowing around his sleeping face in a wreath of wet strands. As I ponder whether it's real or from a box, he rolls his eyes open slowly. "Haruka."

Ever since he was a little kid, Haru hid how he truly felt about his best friend, Rin. The two bonded over their love of swimming; it had made them feel connected. Upon the day Rin arrived back to Japan from Australia, Haru finally mustered the courage to confess to him. Rin however, challenges him to a race before anything could be said. As the latter won, Rin was infuriated, leaving Haru once again. As years pass, Haru tries to forget about his heartache, but was met face to face yet again with a familiar stranger, Rin. Would Haru finally be set free from the chains of Rin's cruel heart holding him captive? Or will he be forced to heal his own brokenness?

This is a very short story, but I really liked it and I wanted to post, so here I am! It's a little oc from the original Free universe, but I wanted to write something cute to recover from the angst I have been reading.
