At Hakuho High, five students seem to shine a little brighter than everyone else: Yoichi Isagi, Rin Itoshi, Meguru Bachira, Hyoma Chigiri, and Seishirō Nagi. They're talented, good-looking, and effortlessly popular-drawing crowds to every soccer practice and becoming the school's unofficial main characters. Isagi's easygoing warmth, Rin's quiet intensity, Chigiri's confident charm, Bachira's playful energy, and Nagi's natural genius make them impossible to ignore.
Meanwhile, Mei Sato and her small circle of friends move through school life a bit differently. Junpei Aryu is often misunderstood because of his fashion-forward style, Ryusei Shidou has been treated like an outsider for years, and Risa Suzuki is both loved and feared for her fiery moods. Through every difficult moment, Mei has been the steady one-strong, dependable, and always there to help everyone else stand on their feet.
But when school ends, Mei becomes Error404, a skilled gamer who can finally relax and drop the weight she carries in real life. Her favorite part of the day is playing with her anonymous rival-turned-partner, JsChoki56-the only person who can match her skill and the only one who makes the world feel a little lighter.
What she doesn't know is that JsChoki56 is actually Seishiro Nagi, the boy everyone admires but few truly understand. When their online friendship crosses into real life, Mei finds herself pulled into a world she never expected to be part of. And Nagi-lazy, brilliant, and quietly observant-starts to care more than he intends to.
Things get even more complicated when Riku Suzuki, Risa's calm and serious twin brother, realizes that he might be falling for Mei too.
As misunderstandings, unexpected feelings, and a fake dating plan slowly weave their lives together, Mei learns that she doesn't always have to carry everything alone, and Nagi discovers that some things are worth the effort, even for someone who hates trying.
