The cold of the night did not bother her much for the very flames that protected the beast protected her within. She awakened only to find herself in a place she did not know. Ember Skygem is a Hobbit. She wasn't the prettiest Hobbit (to herself that is. She had no idea what others thought), but she was quite talented. Ember took lessons from Elvish blacksmiths. She learned how to make weapons and jewlery. Her favorite things to make were rings; consequently, her collection was large. But a horrific memory keeps following her, so Ember goes to her adoptive Aunt's house every few months, who lives in Bree. Her Aunt helps her distract her from the memory when her adoptive parents are too busy to help her themselves. But when 4 hobbits walk into the bar of the inn, Ember is faced with a choice: find out what is so secretive about these hobbits and have the memory present in her mind, or stay with her Aunt to temporarily forget the stalking horror? ---------- The only character I know in Ember unless I say so otherwise. The rest I give full credit to J. R. R. Tolkien, the best author in the world. I will do my best to incorporate details from the book, but I will mostly be going off the movie because that is just easier. And for those of you who really care, this is a Frodo fanfic. Julia Surgeon is just a regular girl, well not regular really. Being a bookworm makes her an abnormal, geeky person in the eyes of her school. Going to Weston High was the least of her worries compared to the ones back home. While standing up for a another kid who was being bullied, Julia was chased Nathan Lewis, the school's biggest bully, into the woods behind her school for talking picking on her family. Once she caught up with him they fought, resulting in rolling down a hill and falling off of a short cliff, both going opposite directions, but the same world.
