The difference between the rich and the poor is significant. Those who are rich are called "ghouls"; an ill fitting name to imply that the rich feed off of the poor. Kaneki Ken falls in love with the beautiful Rize Kamishiro. After finding out she is a ghoul, the two get into an accident where only Kaneki survives. In fear that bad rumors will spread, Kaneki is suddenly adopted into the Kamishiro household under surveillance. With this sudden change from being poor to rich, Kaneki struggles to keep up with his new life style.

This is a story of a kid, who has a good life and living with his family although this is not a happy ever after story, his parents were incompatible and also he is being bullied by the people around him, his childhood was not a good one. Until he made a decision to fight and defend himself, he trained and learned on how to become strong. And his story continues...
