Ah, yes, another story-thing. This time 'round, it happens to be a fan-fiction type dealioski. A background knowledge of the Wheel of Time universe is recommended, but I don't exactly know if it's absolutely needed. As with Phoenix's Glow (the other thing I have posted on my profile), it's about a man and a woman (who are actually most definitely in love) and their adventures. The story actually does not start off at the beginning (as it should logically), but rather after a bit of travelling on the two's part(s). Anyways, I hope any who reads this enjoys it. I guess I'll go sit in a dark corner of some forgotten closet and wait to see what happens.

Having survived the Seanchan invasion, Mat Cauthon is stuck in Ebou Dar. He finds that his incredible luck has failed him and now one of the Forsaken has orders to kill him, using any means necessary. In dice, the Dark One's Eyes are the best toss or the worst. It depends on what game you are playing. This story takes place between the pages of Winter's Heart, Book Nine of The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan.

Through the endless eternal eons of time, all true things throughout history become forgotten, twisted, lost, or they are used to fulfill the desires of wandering souls seeking their place, their purpose, their elusive meaning. Avara was a world no different. Created by the Arkons, it was a beautiful world, thriving with life that was ever evolving, in body, in mind, and in that which lay most hidden, that which is covertly concealed, that which is the true magic of creation. It is always seeking, searching, struggling to find life's sweet secrets. Enraged elementals ravaged the land. Factions that once fought ferociously were united, but fearful and fragile they remained. Those that had gained powerful magic derived from the dregs of the elementals, ruled through the guise, the mascaraed, the masked methods of deception. They controlled the flow of knowledge, the flow of food, the edicts, the laws, that lay leaden across the land. But through choice and chance, through song, through dance, the secrets voice may be heard at last...

Rand Al'Thor, Perrin Aybara, Matrim Cauthon. Three aging men, far past their prime, living stubborn, quiet lives in the quiet town of Emond's Field. While all had families and lived relatively happy lives, none accomplished anything particularly spectacular, and now age weighs heavily on them all. But all of that changes one night when a mysterious woman and her guardian visit the sleepy town, in search of Ta'veren, individuals with incredible power and influence. In the course of a night, the destiny of these aging men will change. Upon the weight of one of them, an incomprehensible responsibility will soon lie. Robert Jordan once said that he intended for the protagonist of The Wheel of Time to be an aging man who, relatively late in his life, realizes he is the chosen one. This story attempts to recreate what may have been in this very different timeline.
