A joint revision is when a person who has previously undergone a total joint replacement has their prosthetic implants replaced. An original prosthesis is taken out during this operation, known as a "reoperation," and a new one is replaced in its place. Some joint revisions can call for replacing just one implant, while others might call for fully replacing every single prosthesis that was put in during the initial joint replacement operation. A total revision of this extent is a complex treatment that requires careful preoperative planning, specialised implants and tools, protracted operating durations, and proficiency in challenging surgical methods.
