Eighteen year old Emmy Porter doesn't know what to do with her life. Fresh out of education, she's got the world at her feet, but isn't sure what to make of all the freedom. Emmy's sister, however, has got it all mapped out. This week she wants to get the lead part in a new musical and Emmy ends up auditioning too. Sam's been given an ultimatum; if he doesn't get a top ten single in six months, Sketch is going to be dropped from Walter's record company. Not wanting to let his bandmates down, Sam tries desperately to think of something to save his career, but when someone suggests adding a female singer, Sam isn't too pleased. Emmy jumps at the chance to move to London to join a rock band, but Sam isn't going to make things easy for her. But you know what they say about opposites attracting...

Ava, Miles, Benjamin, Finn and Dominic have one thing in common; they go to the same high school. After an eventful day of detention, they discover that they also have a common talent for music and start to become friends. But then they come crashing back to their realities and realize that their friendship isn't possible in the narrow-minded Royce Academy. Why would the popular girl, a nerd, a jock and a juvenile be friends anyway? But something, call it fate, keeps bringing them back to one another. +++++++++++++++ "Who's that?" He nodded before speaking, "You know what, Ava? F**k you. F**k you and this entire school. You're so scarred about everybody else's opinion on you, that you forget to have your own opinion. And I hate you." He said looking at me with disappointment in his eyes. "Hey! Who are you to talk about my girlfriend that way?" My boyfriend, Caleb, yelled at Benjamin. "Just some nerd who happened to sleep with your girlfriend before you did." Benji said before storming off. "You did what?!" Caleb yelled at me, "You slut!"
