Gilbert and Roderich have been having a secret relationship for quite some time, but because of social pressure and his own fear of being found out, Roderich decides to break it off and marries their friend Elizabeta, telling himself that it's the best for both of them. However, it turns out that by doing so he might have hurt Gilbert much, much worse than he'd intended.

"You know what the opera and Austria have in common? They're both outdated and boring." Austria breaks away all contact with the world and now it's a race against time for Prussia, to restore the proud Roderich Edelstein to what he once was.

Roderich Edelstein had no idea that the arrogant, popular metal-head (and bane of his existence), Gilbert Beilsmidt, had the capacity to appreciate such beautiful music. Gakuen AU. Human names used, obviously. All but the plot belongs to Hidekaz Himaruya. Cover art not mine, but the edit that I incorporated the art into is.

He and his best and only friend, Erzsébet, have finally reached the moment in their lives where they are to go on their journey. The adventure can be rough, and sometimes it's smooth sailing, but they'll come to realise either way that this adventure isn't simply a journey that two children decided would be a fun idea. It's an event in history.

Roderich is consumed by work, and Gilbert feels more than a bit neglected. Just a short, angsty songfic based on the lyrics to Kirby Shaw's arrangement of "Take Five", which is a great song that I would highly recommend if you like vocal jazz! I am not Hidekaz Himaruya, I don't own his characters, I don't own the song, and I don't own the art on the cover. I DO own the edit I made with that art, the plot, and the writing of this fic.
