Kelly is a young 16 year old girl who lives in Michigan, works at a bowling alley. One slow day, she is wiping down the counter, and a guy steps to the counter asking for a lane and shoes. Kelly gives him a pair of bowling shoes and he goes to his lane. She overhears his friend reveals him as Henry. Kelly never bowled at least not professionally, she stopped after her parents divorced and her dad moved away. She barely remembers how to, she only got this job, because Mr.Robertson was a family-friend and offered her this job as an assistant bowl attendant. Now here she is, a junior in high school and she doesn't know what to do after school. Her romantic life is practically non-existent. She thinks it would be nice to date but it is not a priority for her. Henry, on the other hand, wants a girlfriend and knows what to do with his own life. He wants to be an author and to write his own fantasy book series. Kelly's personality is outgoing and extroverted, while Henry is socially awkward and introverted. Kelly's hobbies include art, soccer, and reading. Henry's hobbies include drawing, reading, and bowling.

Teagan has it all: fortune, fame, a royal title, and all designer clothes you could possibly think of. The catch? She's not happy, opposite really. Genesis has also got it all; but it's a bit different to Teagan. Instead, Genesis has bills, debt, and a troublesome ex. But, at least she's happy, right? Wrong. Gen would do anything to have all her worries rid. So upon meeting each other in the middle of the woods, the lookalike girls make a deal. Except, this deal is dangerous. A deal to swap lives is one thing, but when Gen learns that becoming royalty comes with dangers, conspiracies, arranged marriages and murder, is it really worth it? And for Teagan, having to hide from a dangerous ex was not in the terms and conditions. Danger lurks, death lurks, And destruction is inevitable.

This short story explores ideas of gender roles and their negative impacts on society, as well as the concept of childhood trauma, and the idea of male weakness. (Not inherent weakness, but countering the idea of inherent masculine strength) The story chronicles the life of a woman and her son in a non-specific 20th century setting, and follows them from the mother's childhood, to the son's adulthood, to the mother's death.
