Bruce watches the corners like he's bracing for something he's already survived. Bilton hides jealousy behind sharp smiles, clinging to me in ways that feel more desperate than cruel. But Kairaness... she looks at me like she already knows she's the one The School wants - like she's afraid she'll disappear the second I look away. I don't know why she's being targeted. I don't know why the building circles her like a predator choosing its prey. But something inside me reacts every time she flinches - something fierce, instinctive, protective in a way that scares me. It feels like a part of me I didn't know existed wakes up when she's in danger. I didn't come here to save anyone. Yet now survival means keeping Bruce steady when the shadows move, keeping Bilton from unraveling, and keeping Kairaness alive long enough for all of us to escape - even if it means becoming someone I never planned to be. Because once The School decides you belong to it, it doesn't just hold on. It chooses. It hunts. And it wants her. And whatever's waking up inside me refuses to let it take her.
