Something hidden not only from the curious folks of Merquell but also from the sole proprietor of the Thompson House, Julian Thompson or, as you may call him now, Jonathan Benedict himself. Something so powerful and malicious, its evil aura attracts every foul thing that walks the earth. Yet it stays hidden for it's protected by some powerful spells casted by Jonathan's ancestors. And it must stay, at all costs, hidden. For if it falls in the wrong hands, it will cast a spell of darkness all over the world. Such tremendous chaos will be unleashed that shall forever darken the existence of all. An event even dreadful and fierce than the Pralaya or the Ragnarok it shall be. For it shall summon the being whose existence is as much unknown and catastrophic as the Object's. Some know him as Satan, some call him Lucifer. He may be a demon, a fallen angel as the Divine says. It matters not. For even if he is a God of his own realm, his rising must at all costs be averted. Unaware and ignorant of the Object and veiled in his own cloak of misery, Jonathan knows not of any of this. For him what only matters is revenge. Revenge to soothe the boiling blood in his veins, to soothe his scorched soul. His only purpose left is to murder the killer of his wife. And even though he's succeeded in his revenge, he's still haunted. Haunted by the memories of his past, realization of his loss, and the screams of his wife he is. But pity not, for Jonathan is someone as sinister as his fate sounds. He's a man of a thousand lies, a thousand faces and a million sins. XXX Did I mention the tale is set in the Victorian period?
