A short story of romance between Weiss and Ruby. Set in a modern setting, two girls meet by chance and become friends...but Ruby may feel something more...

The Brothers glared down at the world they created with disdain. They had chosen their champions, and they had only further ruined the world. They needed a new plan. A new champion. A Hero. And so they came together to make someone capable of fixing their world. A baby girl was born from both light and darkness. Gifted to a mortal below, one who would raise the hero correctly. This hero will grow to change the world. Blessed by the Gods, she will fix what they could not. She would be their Apostle.

Weiss was mute. It was the result of a car accident, or at least that's what they tell people. She's lived her life in luxury, however. For years, profiting from her father's company, she's spent her days dancing at parties and entertaining her mother's many guests. It's a comfortable life, and though it's boring, she finds its perks outweigh its cons. Then she meets Ruby Rose at one of her mother's parties, and her whole world changes.

Weiss can't lose Ruby to the tree in the ever after- not after Atlas. In just a few seconds, everything changes forever. They begin to question what they know about their world. The team is split up, and they are all forced to make decisions that will change everything. And one thing seems painfully clear: the knight is not meant to save snow white. The huntsman is not meant to save red riding hood. Because they are meant to save each other. (This fic is based around the song 'Brighter' by Against the Current)
