On one already miserable day, in a house way too big and way too expensive for someone surviving on instant noodles and poor choices, reality decided to personally ruin Yuukai's life. It kicked the door down and dropped a problem in the living room. A fictional character. From their favorite game. Alive. Breathing. Touching stuff. Yuukai, who still hadn't processed their assignments, their bank account, or their life decisions, was now expected to process *this*. They didn't. They just stared. And mentally unplugged. Everyone at Night Raven College thinks the reader is arrogant, selfish, and uninterested in making friends. She keeps to herself, avoids socializing, and seems far more interested in animals than people. Strange enough, every animal she encounters seems to adore her. One day, Ruggie catches her having a serious conversation with a squirrel and jokingly asks why she always talks to animals. Her answer catches him off guard: "Because they're kinder and better than humans." Curious, Ruggie starts paying more attention to her and notices something no one else does. The cold, distant girl everyone knows completely changes whenever she's around animals. She feeds strays from her own meals, cares for injured creatures, and speaks to them with a gentleness she never shows other people. As Ruggie uncovers the reasons behind her distrust of humans, he slowly becomes one of the few people she allows into her world. Between mischievous hyenas, swarms of friendly animals, and Ruggie's endless teasing, an unlikely friendship begins to form-one that might eventually teach them both that not all humans are as cruel as they seem.
