The Rumbling ends. The Power of the Titans disappears. The world is told the story it needs in order to survive. But some truths do not die with the monster. This alternative ending to Attack on Titan keeps the spirit of the final arc, but changes the emotional meaning of what remains afterward. It is not a clean fix-it, not a simple happy ending, and not a story about easy forgiveness. It is a story about guilt, memory, survival, and the cost of turning a person into a symbol.

It is known only what the anime and the manga, in their own kindness, show. The part of the story that contains Eren's point of view is not (yet, at least) presented. What did he tell his friends in the Paths, besides Armin? What where actually his motives? Wasn't there any other way to end it all? I wrote this work in order to present my own ideas regarding the story, from Eren's perspective, perhaps to answer some own questions that do not give me peace. I'm sure this will be dis-proven by Isayama Sensei himself. But it was gnawing at the back of my head to the point I could think of little else, and I have a month before the next chapter comes out. So...please enjoy.
