Michael is supposed to be going somewhere big. Juilliard. New York. A life built from years of moving, never staying long enough for anything to feel like his. But as he got on his bike after his parents left him to start his own life away from their life of crime, he stops at a pizza place. Little did he know, he would meet this interesting girl. She is loud in ways he is not. Funny without trying. Unapologetically herself in a world that taught him to be careful and hushed. She sings wrong lyrics like they are right, laughs too hard at everything, and talks like she has known him forever. And for a moment, she reminds him of someone he used to know. The comfort of someone who filled silence without trying. The feeling of being pulled into love by a person who made the world feel less heavy. A version of love that once felt simple, but had many downsides. But she is not her. Not the same voice. Not the same presence. Not the same place in his memory that still lingers when everything gets quiet. Michael is used to leaving people behind. Not meeting someone who makes him want to stay. She is not the girl he was supposed to meet that day. She's not you.

1988 in LA wasn't as wild as you may imagine, in fact I can assure you it was much wilder. However this isn't a story about Los Angeles. If the city is only a supporting character it's because HE was the lead. LA brought us together, but it also ripped us apart. Why don't I just start from the beginning, our beginning.

17 years old introvert Alizée has been nothing but paranoid about the fact that she doesn't like anyone particularly. She has always been the solitary girl, somewhat insecure. Dazing off most of the time, she wonders what it would feel like to have an increased heartbeat, a sudden palm sweat when being around someone. Living in a small town, she never had the chance to feel this way... at least, until a 18 years old boy moves suddenly in the area. 'I am setting the bar too high' she always used to say to her parents. 'Your moment will come sweety, when you least expect it' her parents answer. Even if she didn't truly believe it at that moment, her parents might have been right... ［In later chapters, there will be intense and sexual scenes, but no strong language will be used］

"What's your name again?' "Dawn," I smiled. "Oh yea, like when the sun is first rising in the morning,' he nodded. "Uh, sure," I shrugged. "In my opinion that's the most beautiful time of the day," he raised his eyebrows, as my cheeks grew warm, and my lips formed a smirk. "A beautiful name, with a beautiful meaning, for a beautiful girl," he said, turning his head, and slowly walking away. "Ha, yea, beautiful," I whispered to myself.
