St. Petersburg, 2025. When a time machine is stolen by the brilliant and dangerous Dimitri Reznikov, university student Alexei Serovarin follows his mentor into the winter of 1916. Disguised as a wounded Imperial officer, Alexei infiltrates the world of the Romanovs to stop history from being rewritten. But the closer he grows to Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaevna, the harder it becomes to remember why he came. Some timelines are meant to be preserved. Others are worth destroying for love.

This story follows the life of Oscar Otter, a Russian soldier during WWI as he observes and takes part in many of the events that made Russia what it is today. Oscar watches as the Tiger is dethroned and is replaced by Moon as the animals of Russia try and figure out how to save themselves from their terrible mess. When it comes down to it Oscar wonders: was it all worth it? Disclaimer: This is a project that I did for my World History class that my friend said I should publish. I am still working on fine-tuning it and have yet to edit it very thoroughly. I will also be working on expanding the story more. The assignment was to write a fable about what happened in a revolution of our choice and I chose the Russian Revolution. It was required to be a minimum of 2,000 words and mine ended up being more than 12,000.

Dancing bears, painted wings, things I almost remember and a song someone sings, once upon a December. It's 1906 in St.Petersburg, the world is alive and the Grand Duchess is only 5, a shared look between her grandmother, a knowing smile, a cry of longing and a music box, their little secret. She's leaving for Paris without Anastasia. It's 1917, Anastasia is 16, adored by everyone, the youngest of the Tsar's daughters and she is the picture of beauty. That is until the Bolsheviks attack the palace and the royals are taken to Ipatiev house in Yekaterinburg. They are never seen again. It's 1918, the Romanov family are woken during the night and told to dress, they are being moved to a safer location. They walk down to the cellar of the Ipatiev house, awaiting the arrival of their transport. It never came. They were executed right there in the cellar, no Romanov was left alive. It's 1927, and there's a rumour in St. Petersburg. Although the Tsar did not survive, one daughter may be still alive, the Princess Anastasia, but please do not repeat. This is the companion novel to the 2017 Broadway musical, giving insights to the story, and telling a much darker, historical twist to the enchanting tale. Holly Lancewood was just your typical American teenage girl, average grades, average looks, average life. There was nothing special about her at all-at least until that day. Do you believe in reincarnation? The existence of souls? Of heaven? Of God? Holly didn't want to, really. She didn't ask for any of this at all. In fact, she was perfectly content being just average. On the bright side, at least she wasn't dumped into the middle of World War I or II, but then again, World War I did start in 1914 which was but a few decades from then. Then there was also the Napoleon Wars to consider that also occured within that timeframe. Of course, there was no use thinking about wars yet to come. The first thing she had to do was ensure her own survival. As one of the most famous princesses in history-Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanova, youngest daughter of the Tsar and the one of the greatest mysteries of the 20th century. Also- Doomed to die with her entire family by the Bolsheviks... Yeah, no thanks.

The royal family is dead, executed late in the night, securing the Bolshevik's hold on the country. With no Romanovs to challenge them, the country has gone to the Communists. Or has it? And now, she's gaining her revenge: with the help of loyalist troops, she's taking over the country and restoring herself to the throne. And she sweeps Sasha Kozlov, a sharpshooter in the Red Army, right into it after taking St. Petersburg and giving him a choice: join her and betray the things he stands for, or be executed. His whole life had been spent crammed inside the once-royal city amongst the lowest of the lows and he was ready to escape. All he wanted was a big- no, a comfortable home with a large garden, surrounded by hot food and a warm bath. It seemed almost impossible. Almost. When a rumour starts seeping through the cracks and back alleys of Petersburg, Dmitri and an ex-count team up with an unusual, amnesiac girl to snatch a wealthy reward and get out of Russia for good. Of course, absolutely nothing goes to plan.
