In a world where wars are no longer fought in public, power has learned to move in silence.
Behind treaties, committees, and carefully worded denials exists a hidden infrastructure known as the guilds-institutions that train children to become weapons before they are old enough to question why. Names replace identities. Rankings replace morality. Survival becomes the only metric that matters.
Nyx has lived her entire life inside that system. Shaped by relentless training and ruthless evaluations, she learned to endure, adapt, and disappear on command. Alongside fellow operatives-brilliant, dangerous, and just as broken-she rises through a world where loyalty is conditional and failure is permanent. But when elite trials force rival guilds together, old certainties fracture. Alliances blur. Enemies feel familiar. And questions the system never intended to answer begin to surface.

Eve's attention snaps fully to me now, lips pressing into a thin line. "You're Obsidian Vale," she says, like it's an accusation. "I've heard about you."
I beam. "All good things, I'm sure."
Her nostrils flare. "You seem... comfortable."
"With hating him?" I gesture at Pierce. "Extremely."
Pierce exhales. "Nyx-"
I cut him off, eyes still on Eve. "Look," I say pleasantly, "if you want him, have him. That way I can hate you both equally, like I already do."
