The seven-graders in Lakeside high School are becoming eight-graders. It was the holidays and they fantasised about their new amazing, awesome teacher, Mrs Woods. However, much to the sixth-graders' horror, Mrs Woods has just gotten pregnant. This meant that she could not teach them for the whole eighth-grade year! The devastated children go back to school, dreading their new teacher, Mr Walker. However, they will receive many surprises in their year and little do they know that what they thought was going to be their worst year, was actually going to be the best. However, there is something that she does not have that makes her not perfect: Friends. Penny, the new girl, is suffering from dyslexia. In addition, she is one of the worst pupils in her old school, Newton Girls' School. Since Lakeside is a more advanced school, she is almost failing every subject. But all this does not stop her from having a heart of gold.
