Gabriel hatches a plan to get rid of Marinette, only for it to backfire on him.

Marinette and Damian are twins. Marinette is older than him by 15 minutes though. They grew up together and always had each others backs. Marinette was trained harder then Damian because her Grandfather believed that she could never be a good assassins. She proved him wrong. Damian wasn't trained as hard but, they trained together when they could. Damian always admired his older sister. They were separated when they were 10 and almost 9 years later they find each other again. And the reason why is not a good reason. Far from it.

The Doctor first met Marinette when she was a little girl, and he was in his first incarnation, and over the many, many years he would run into her, at various ages, until they grown fond of her. The damper on it is that Doctor knows Marinette's death is a fixed point in time.
