Arjuna would have been happy living in the forests, much like his elder brother Bhima. However, the rules that guided them also pushed them to stay in Hastinapura, though the new twists and turns he and his family were subjected to resulted in them having to stay. Bhima would escape that insanity due to his training with Balarama, while Arjuna himself would be in Hastinapura, guarding his eldest brother from the plots of the Kauravas, which happened so frequently that he knew well when the plot was acted out. He would stay determined and alert, he thought, when the sudden arrival of Princess Draupadi in his life threw all his principles in a haphazard daze.
She was the fireborn Princess of Panchala, born as a blessing, she was told, for the deep devotion of her parents. Many often told her that she was also born from the fire of revenge, for that is why her father had performed such a fierce Yajna. Hearing the tales of why he had to do so had her in tenterhooks, for she could see all angles at once, political acumen very natural to her. She was determined to fight for an alliance with the Pandavas for Panchala, especially once she heard of the relationship between the father of the Pandavas and her own. In her wish to address this alliance, she ends up catching feelings she never expected to have, all amidst trying to help her best friend for Her wedding. What was this intrigue that had descended in her life?
This is the story of Arjuna and of Agnija; of the love he bore for the fireborn blue Lotus, and of the love she bore for one of her husbands.
