Merlin is tired of waiting. It's too much. It's been 1000 or so years and he can't do it anymore. So he breaks his immortality and lives out his life. But what if he only had to wait a bit more.

While on a camping trip, Merlin was obviously exhausted as he'd been acting strange all day. As he falls asleep, Gwaine finds a small leather bound journal hidden away in the servants coat, which he soon learns is a journal. He reads a few to himself, then to the Knights. They all soon realize how sad and how seemingly alone Merlin believes he is. They all realize, just how little they know about Merlin. [Hint: The Knights and Arthur learn about Freya!]

When Morgana captures Merlin in her hovel she curses him. Her plan is to make him kill Arthur, but when she realises who Merlin really is, her wishes to kill Arthur pales. Now she just have to make Arthur kill Merlin. (Takes place in the episode "A Servant of Two Masters")
