FOLLOW BASIC SAFETY RULES A lot of it is specifically for those under 15, or trans kids, but read chapters with titles that *are or could be* you or someone you know even if you don't fit those categories! (: Anyone can comment, or write things ADULT, but only a recent one I am here to help because information is not spread enough Some opinions will be in this book. If you disagree I would love to discuss it. I am queer but I am cisgender I go by she/her. All pronouns are ok, you can call me by neos, but I prefer ones that are pretty clearly pronouns (examples are xe/xey/xem, ze/zem, etc)

Driving a truck at night is a formidable task that demands not only skill and experience but also heightened vigilance and preparation. As the sun sets, the challenges on the road multiply, transforming the job into a demanding adventure that requires thorough readiness. In this guide, we explore essential tips and precautions that every truck driver should embrace to ensure safe and efficient travel during the dark hours. Before embarking on a nocturnal journey, a truck driver must be intimately familiar with the destination and the routes leading there. Utilizing tools such as Google Maps and seeking advice from fellow drivers are prudent practices. This prior knowledge helps in navigating unfamiliar terrains more safely at night. Keeping a close watch on road signals and remaining alert are vital to staying on course without mishaps. Adequate rest cannot be overstated. The human body is not designed to operate like a machine; sufficient sleep is crucial to maintain concentration and alertness, especially during the eerie quiet of night driving. It helps in averting potential hazards and reacting swiftly to unexpected road conditions. Safety extends beyond mere alertness; maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles is equally important. This spacing allows for sudden alterations in driving patterns necessitated by unforeseen events such as abrupt stops or lane changes. Adherence to traffic rules, including the proper use of vehicle lights, becomes even more critical under the cover of darkness. High beams aid in enhancing visibility but should be managed responsibly to avoid blinding other drivers. Awareness of wildlife and pedestrian movements, especially in poorly lit areas, can prevent dangerous collisions. The guide also highlights the significance of being prepared for abrupt weather changes, recommending constant updates on weather forecasts and adjusting driving styles accordingly.

Five minutes. That's how long they say it takes for a house to be engulfed in flames. Most people think this is plenty of time to escape a fire, and I would agree-if you're aware of the fire in time. For us, we likely had less than five minutes because our smoke detectors didn't go off. Instead, it was our pets who alerted us. On July 20, 2020, we experienced a house fire that started in our garage. Based on the intensity of the flames, we believe it had already been burning for a few minutes. While five minutes may seem like enough time to escape, in reality we had only moments to react.
