Secrets are almost never a good thing. When Axis, a sixteen year old who's spent almost thirteen years as a sailor, discovers that his small family is not what it seemed to be, he'll have to find his land legs once more. As a faction, known only as the "Cult" to outsiders, begins to hunt for Axis, an entire world makes itself known to him as he works to save his father. Faced with swords, he's more than okay... but faced with Magic? Different story. "Siren Symphonia": This part of the title blends Latin and Greek, with "Siren" referring to the mythical creatures and "Symphonia" meaning "harmony" or "agreement" in Greek. Together, it suggests the enchanting songs of the sirens. "Aeternae Marins": This part incorporates Latin and French. "Aeternae" means "eternal" in Latin, and "Marins" is the French word for "sailors." Combined, it implies the enduring connection between the sirens' songs and the sailors they ensnare and feast on for eternity. -------------------- In a realm where the ocean's depths hold both beauty and peril, a timeless struggle unfolds between two ancient beings: the sirens and the mermaids. The sirens, with their mesmerizing beauty and honeyed voices, lure unsuspecting sailors to their doom, their songs echoing across the waves like a siren's call. But beneath the surface, they are creatures of darkness, their true forms hidden beneath a facade of allure. The tale of Persephone is well known throughout Greek Mythology, however, the real tale hidden beneath the myth of a Goddess stolen away from her mother is that of Alena Cali - the Cursed Siren. Catalina was the second born and only girl of a group of triplets. Her family wasn't very wealthy, but they didn't live in the slums either. She grew up being a rather sickly girl, having unexplained gain of weight and irregular periods. It was only until she became 15 when her family realized that their only daughter had a sickness that caused her to be infertile. Both her brothers, Agustín and Bernardo eventually leave the small house and become spice merchants and as soon as they are gone her family starts treating her badly and rejecting her; Catalina soon discovers that both her brothers were the ones convincing her family not to kick her out the house. After a year or so, of loneliness, reject, and little communication with her brothers, she receives the news that both, Agustín and Bernardo had been captured by Barnasy corsairs, and taken in as christian slaves for the Islamic market in North Africa. After studying for a while, Catalina decides to go off and search for her brothers, not listening to reason and avoiding the thought of both of them being dead. She escapes her home and begins to search for a crew to join.

Marion Simmons believed things should be the same. Between man and woman that is. So when she disguises herself to fulfill her dream of sailing, (which was forbidden for women), it results in some unseen consequences. This was originally a short story written for Young Authors, a writing competition that my school does. It received 1st place in the county. Young Authors only allows the entries to be shorter than 4,000 words, but I'm working on making it longer.

Together, Frank and Marie fight against the dark rage of Marie's former lover who seeks revenge against her for the scar she left on his face after discovering him with another woman. The surprise ending brings the four together in an explosive climax of forever love, reunion, and freedom.
