While her sisters loose interest, Natalie remains behind, hoping to get information on her prey. She has her mission, he has his. As love, betrayal, and hate center around the young siren, she must choose what she willing to risk in the game of revenge and learn what it means to be a siren.

"The Retired Captain's Farewell Voyage" is a story about a seasoned sailor, Captain Robert, who after a lifetime of adventure, decides to retire. He reflects on his years of sailing and the memories made with his crew, but also look forward to the new chapter in his life. He plans a special journey for his crew, a journey to a place where no one had ever been before, a place where the sea and sky met. The journey is filled with challenges, but with his leadership and experience, they safely reach their destination, a hidden lagoon, surrounded by white sandy beaches and crystal-clear water. The real treasure of the journey is the bond and camaraderie that they have formed as a crew. As they sail back home, Captain Robert reflects on his full and adventurous life, and the memories that will live on forever in the hearts of him and his crew.

Short story where a Mermaid was a woman thrown off a ship when the sailors got afraid, because having a woman on the boat is bad luck, and as she sinks to the bottom with her legs tied together, she changes slowly, until she can breath, until she can use her tied up legs to swim, and she drowns sailors in revenge, luring them in by singing in her husky voice still stinging from the salt water she breathed. A collection of three short-stories that each have an element of wind as a means to help advance them in one way or another. Whether it be to feel comfortable in one's skin, or sailors finding their way home from a hurricane, or even an orphaned girl as she moves on from her harsh realities.

Abbie has never been what one would call a typical lady. Trying to keep up with England's rich and powerful is far too much work, and Abbie has never enjoyed the endless games of chasing acknowledgement form her peers. When she's engaged rather unwillingly to the wealthiest lord in London, she knows without a doubt it will be the worst thing she'll ever face. So what does she do? She runs. Finn has been roaming the seas as a pirate aboard The Iron Lady for ten years. Since the death of his father, he's been pirating to provide for his mother, sister, and her two children--all the while unbeknownst to them. While there have been a number of heists that have ended favorably, their poor condition has changed little. Finn wearies of life at sea, and begins thinking about leaving the business to return home to Ireland for good. When he kidnaps a businessman's teenage daughter, he is absolutely certain that the ransom payoff will be the one to end his career as a pirate. Abbie has always thought that pirates are uneducated, cruel, and just plain terrible company. Finn is certain that rich girls are snobby and selfish and is dreading spending any time with one aboard the ship. But when their journey together begins, they find that their expectations might be entirely incorrect. With the voyage of The Iron Lady spanning the globe from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, from the Iberian Peninsula to England, neither lady nor pirate will be able to resist the adventure--and romance--that will come along with it.

"Siren Symphonia": This part of the title blends Latin and Greek, with "Siren" referring to the mythical creatures and "Symphonia" meaning "harmony" or "agreement" in Greek. Together, it suggests the enchanting songs of the sirens. "Aeternae Marins": This part incorporates Latin and French. "Aeternae" means "eternal" in Latin, and "Marins" is the French word for "sailors." Combined, it implies the enduring connection between the sirens' songs and the sailors they ensnare and feast on for eternity. -------------------- In a realm where the ocean's depths hold both beauty and peril, a timeless struggle unfolds between two ancient beings: the sirens and the mermaids. The sirens, with their mesmerizing beauty and honeyed voices, lure unsuspecting sailors to their doom, their songs echoing across the waves like a siren's call. But beneath the surface, they are creatures of darkness, their true forms hidden beneath a facade of allure. Contrastingly, the mermaids are known for their ugliness above the water, their raspy voices a stark contrast to the sirens' enchanting melodies. And so the cycle continues, until one fateful day, when a chance encounter between a siren and a mermaid sets into motion events that will change the course of their eternal struggle forever. Marion Simmons believed things should be the same. Between man and woman that is. So when she disguises herself to fulfill her dream of sailing, (which was forbidden for women), it results in some unseen consequences. This was originally a short story written for Young Authors, a writing competition that my school does. It received 1st place in the county. Young Authors only allows the entries to be shorter than 4,000 words, but I'm working on making it longer.
