Blake Sommers was very close to her mother well until her mother committed suicide, making her get taken in by her aunt and uncle at the age of 15. Blake never knew her father and as much as she tried to get information out from her aunt, Miranda had no idea who Blake's father was. It was a complete mystery as well as Blake's mother killing herself. Miranda's twin sister Margaret would never have killed herself, she knows how much she adored Blake. Now years later, Blake works at Mystic Falls Hospital as a certified doctor. Her dream job. Blake has her own apartment but she does visit her cousins as much as she can. She's very close with her younger cousin Elena, so close they're almost like sisters. So during game night, Elena asks Blake to not tell her parents she's sneaking out to a party and Blake keeps her secret. During the same night, Elena's crying on the phone to Blake wanting her to pick her up because she had a fight with her boyfriend Matt. As Blake goes to pick her cousin up, she gets caught sneaking out by her aunt and uncle and they want to know where she is going and Blake spills the beans she's getting Elena. So the three of them go and get Elena as the unexpected happened, Miranda and Grayson die in a car crash leaving Blake and Elena the only survivors. Elena has no memory but Blake vaguely remembers trying to use her magic trying to save them but she couldn't as she fell unconscious. Blake then moves into the Gilbert house as she is now Elena and Jeremy's guardian. Blake never thought she'd have to take care of her cousins but here she is. As Blake juggles with taking care of her cousins, working, and trying to stay strong, she didn't expect to fall for her cousins teacher but for some reason he makes her feel alive something she hasn't felt since before her aunt and uncle past.
