As of the, a young Commander Christopher Pike has the task of raising an eight-year-old girl. A girl who just lost her parents and who happens to be his goddaughter. After finishing her time at the academy, Kristen leaves for the USS Jupiter. Two years later, she leaves for personal reasons. She heads for Pike's location in space, Enterprise. Upon arrival, she is met with open arms and a warm hug. But her life isn't all stars and galaxies. It's only begun for the 25-year-old Lieutenant Commander. All characters belong to Gene Roddenberry. A sequel to Star Trek: Beyond, Samantha "Sam" Kirk is transferred to the Yorktown Starbase. Sam is briefly reunited with her brother, Captain James "Jim" T. Kirk, of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Soon after, she is sent on a mission to investigate an unusual energy reading from a nearby planetary system that Kirk and the Enterprise crew are familiar with, the Altamid system. At Commodore Paris' request, the Enterprise remains at Yorktown for a little longer. Until Sam and the ship she is assigned to disappear. Because Earth is too far away to contact Kirk's and Sam's mother and step-father, Captain Kirk is informed of his sister's disappearance. He and the Enterprise crew, including Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy, navigate their way through the nebula to the Altamid system. The crew tracks Sam to one of the planets in the Altamid system, Xamma, where they discover a god-like being who claims to be Apollo. Kirk and Bones beam down to the planet to find out where Sam is. Kirk and Bones discover that Sam and the remaining crew are being held captive, forced to worship this god-like being. Sam, while serving Kirk and Bones as Apollo's guests, slips them a note, detailing the source of Apollo's power. The men return to the Enterprise to devise a plan to rescue the captives. However, their plan is immediately discovered by Apollo, who is furious and forces the crew to choose representatives to fight to the death against representatives of Sam's crew. Both crews agree to the fight, in the hopes that those not fighting can find and destroy Apollo's power supply to stop him.

Three events that change Jamie Kirk's destiny. The first is the arrival of the Narada, when Nero and his crew destroy the USS Kelvin and her father, George Kirk. The second is when nine year old Jamie convinces her older brother George Samuel Kirk to stay instead of running away from home and their abusive uncle. This moment starts Sam and Jamie on a path where they will meet the newly appointed Captain Christopher Pike, influence a new agenda of Romulan peace, and battle a logic influenced Vulcan cadet with emotion and philosophy. All these changes leading to very different events when Nero makes his final stand.

Kirk's past has always been a mystery to the crew, but what happens when it catches up with him and they find out the reason he doesn't talk. Friendship. Crew as family.
