"His face was arched with an unusual glow, the glimmering water below reflecting off of his chin and cascading a shadow beneath his dark bangs. He blinked twice, looking down into the deep of the water reflectively, and, seemingly enlightened, he turned to face me with a gentle smile. I watched his eyes dilate, closing halfway with that sleepy, endearing look I held so dear. His thin lips spoke, "I think I'm ready now."" Moving to the countryside from the bustling and busy city was not an easy feat for Skylar Grindle. Pelican Town was a completely new palette of colours, sights and smells. Waking up to the lingering of fresh grass and salty seas surely differed from the clouded musk of her prior home, albeit still new and confusing. The same could be said for the people in the town, so sure of their character and tightly-knit, it was like nothing Skylar had ever experienced. Especially him, and her strange new feelings for the brooding boy from the mountains who she had always imagined unsightly and disagreeable. Will Sky ever become used to her new life in the country? Nova always lived her life for experiences. When her late grandfather leaves her a letter on his deathbed offering up his farmland to her after his death, she takes the opportunity on a whim to try and regain a spark back into her life that her demoralizing corporate job has taken away from her. During her first few days in her new home, she learns the hard way just how much physical work a farmer's life is, which leads her to meeting her very first friends in the valley--Maru and Penny. Maru and Penny guide Nova through the ups and downs of Pelican Town's complicated social scene. Nova is overjoyed by the numerous attractive bachelors in town, including Maru's half brother, Sebastian whom Nova has grown a particular interest in. But Maru and Penny's one and only unanimous warning to Nova? Stay away from Abigail. Abigail's warning? Stay away from Sebastian. Nova decides that moving to Pelican Town on a whim wasn't the last of her spontaneous ideas. As a writer feeling the harsh effects of creative slump, Nova seeks a way to regain some of her inspiration back. In order to break the chains of her writer's block, she decides that she needs more experiences and is determined to date every bachelor in the valley, including Maru's brother Sebastian. As she dates her way through the valley, she uses each date as an addition to her diary entries that she hopes to use to inspire her to write a story one day. When her diary falls into the wrong hands, she fears that her time in Pelican Town will quickly come to an end. In the mits of rebuilding her identity, her idea of the future is challenged by a (over) confident, loud-mouthed trouble maker, forcing Wren to question what she is willing to work through to understand what is is to truly love and be loved. Sam had coasted through his life, never challenged, never objected. He was talented at programming and a talent like that surely took him to some fancy company in Zuzu City or even beyond. When she arrives at Stardew Valley, she's greeted by the mayor, Lewis, and the resident carpenter Robin. She quickly develops a friendship with the outgoing, blue-haired bartender, Emily, who insists that Juniper visit her at work, and often. One night, as Juniper is settling in for a night visiting Emily at work, she sees the ghost from her past, the one person she never thought she'd see again. His presence in her life again stirs up many prior memories of their time together at college, and the rocky road that led them to a tumultuous end. Now, Juniper is left to wonder how she is supposed to maneuver through living in this small town, when the one person who knew the girl she was in another life seems to be hiding around every dark corner, reminding her of the past.

Her first friend is the extroverted, blue haired Emily, who becomes Stella's key insight into the lives of her neighbors in Stardew Valley. Her first crush is the easy-going, adorably clueless skateboarder, Sam, who she runs into on her very first full day in the valley. Sam is everything Stella is not, and maybe he's what she needs-someone to counteract her melancholic, reclusive personality. But when she meets his dark haired, moody and pessimistic friend Sebastian, who is the complete opposite of Sam, she becomes enthralled with him, wanting to crack through his tough exterior to see what lies beneath. Sebastian is everything she wants, but knows she doesn't need. She knows how he is, because she is the same way. He's like a carbon copy of herself and that only intrigues her more. She knows he's like poison, but the way he makes her feel becomes like an addiction.
