The year 2020 was a great turning point for mankind. Many great discoveries were made that changed the world, one of those discoveries being the existence of magical creatures. At first, as long as they cooperated with the humans, they lived peaceful lives. They became known as Mythics, and for 5 years lived in peace and harmony with humans. That is, until the world suddenly turned. The usual safe tests that were preformed on volunteer Mythics were becoming dangerous and unpleasant. When the Mythics stopped willingly participating in these tests, they were taken from their homes and forced to. Soon, their image was one of terror, and violence as they tried to resist the cruel treatment, and the world government used this fear to make all Mythics seem too dangerous to be left unsupervised in their natural habitats and homes in the wild. They were to be captured and immediately sent to the appropriate holding facilities. Mythics who haven't reached maturity were sent to a specialized boarding school, meant to monitor their every move and ensure they don't grow into threats. Matured Mythics were given a choice; give into the other side and help capture other Mythics, or spend the rest of their days at an unknown location never to see the light of day again. Those who escaped captivity split into five tribes lead by the strongest left. The Dragons to the West, the Werewolves to the East, the Unicorns to the North, the Phoenixes to the South, and the Faeries to their own pocket dimension. The year is now 2030 and the Dragons have called a meeting of the tribes. Having been kicked out before it starts, the tribal leader's children Faera, Astrea, Lucas, and Alexander are stuck on guard duty. When they hear a scream, they rush back to find their parents being dragged away and the meeting hall being burnt to the ground. Now determined to find their parents, the youths set off to a place they know they'll find answers in. Only one problem-- they have to wear uniforms.

Pheonix, along with others who triggered unknown patterns didn't know it yet, but they would be the faces to saving humanity from assured destruction.

This book is inspired by the movie/book "The Summer I Turned Pretty." It isn't exactly like it but it has the same vibe. This book follows a black friend group on summer vacation in Malibu just enjoying and living life.
