After a fallen championship dream, Leaine Avriel Obuistro found herself entering the blazing fence of college with one thing kept in mind: redemption. Once the Adamson Lady Baby Falcons' Team Captain who failed to get her hands on the championship crown in high school, Leaine is now the heart of the Collegiate Lady Falcons-this time older, rougher and more eager to win.
Then, the 5-foot-9 Nanie Ishikawa comes in, a Japanese-Filipino who was born and raised in the country side of Fukuoka, an outside hitter whose name sounds more of a replacement rather than an addition, and someone who keeps invading Leaine's thoughts. Nanie's far from someone who would ever call her "Capt" but very close to a typical disciplined, precise and embodiment of hard work type of athlete.
What seems like something that is meant to be kept inside the distant roars of the very edge of the court becomes something that unfolds at the center of each of their chaos. What started out as a strange encounter and training drills continued like a solace where the two of them could run to-the air that their lungs spent so much time aching for.
That Year, Our Autumn is a story where the cycle of departure and reunion becomes proof that love does exist and how it comes in the most unexpected way possible- when you don't even realize it was right in front of you. It is also a tale of promises and determination wherein characters like Leaine and Nanie collide and form an interesting universe crafted from their own little worlds.
