While darkness, blame, and emotional pain drive the story, it's balanced by humor, warmth, and deep bonds between the characters. Along the way, a conflicted villain, absurd supernatural quirks, and playful subversions of tropes keep things from becoming too grim. At its heart, the story is about confronting guilt, surviving the night, and rediscovering connection-through tears, laughter, and a lot of very intimate emotional (and occasionally ridiculous) moments.
