Carolina Ritter was the most remarkable amongst her generation of widows. She was sharp, smart and never hesitated.
Freed when she was sixteen, by Natasha Romanoff and her family, Carolina had no place to go. She found out her parents had been murdered, and the rest of the family didn't believe it was her.
So she got used to loneliness. She'd skip towns every couple of months to avoid child services and switched identities. São Paulo knew her as Manuela Gouveia. Moscow knew her as Alisa Federov. Santiago knew her as Lisa Herrera.
She'd only be known as Carolina Ritter again when she moved to New York at twenty-three, decided to settle in. Alone.
She just didn't expect to meet a beautiful stranger in the train station once, and then again on the cafeteria on her block. Several times.
His name was John Walker, and he was in the military. He was funny and protective. They quickly became friends, but Carolina started to grow feelings for him.
The day she decided to tell him was the day he told her he'd move to DC to be the new Captain America. She backed off.
They didn't speak for years.
Carolina was offered a job as "cleaning business" for a Lady Called Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and did her job with ease and competence.
She just didn't know that her last target would be John Walker.
She thought he'd be the same, but she was terribly wrong about that. Because she had changed a lot herself.
