He gave a speech about how the city needed to see its privilege. He pulled out a detonated and a video of the Queens Gambit exploding appeared on the screen. That was the day it all started. That was the day I vowed to kill the Dark Archer. I became the Canary. I learned to fight, and with the help of Queen Consolidated Applied Sciences Division head Engineer, Felicity Smoak, I continued fight adding in New Gadgets to my Arsenal. Including the Canary Cry, and my electric Batons. Once I found out who he was, I confronted Merlin. We fought for a time that neither of us could begin to recall. But Merlin had tricks up his sleeve. In the end I beat him, but the Magicians final card, was leveling the Glades, murdering everyone inside. Including my Boyfriend Tommy. I pledged that day to fight not only for my agenda, but to save those of Starling City, by using the gadgets and Techniques I've learned. My name is Laurel Lance. For 13 years I've fought to make sure that no other family in Starling loses a brother or a sister. To do that, I had to become something else, I had to become someone else.
